Loot Guidelines
Looting Guidelines

These basic guidelines of dividing loot apply to any adventure group that is started and managed by a member of our guild whether the group consists solely of our guild members or also includes visitors from other guilds. If you are the group leader, and you invite other guild-mates and/or non-guild-mates to group with you, you are expected to follow and enforce these guidelines.

  1. Need before greed ... plain and simple.

  2. All lotto rolls are based upon the need of the specific characters in the adventure group. There will be no free-for all (FFA) rolling or rolling on loot items for any alternate characters if any specific character in the active adventure group can actually equip and use a particular loot item.

  3. No tolerance of double jeopardy on loot rolling. If a character wins a loot lotto, but their bags are full and they can not receive the item into their inventory, then they have still won the item. There will be no second FFA roll for the item. Either that character can empty a spot in their bags to receive the item before the second lotto ends, or they can ask someone else in the group to receive and hold the item for them. To accept an item in a second lotto roll after someone else has won it is considered stealing by the guild.

  4. If no characters in the active adventure group can use the item then the lotto for loot becomes Free-For-All (FFA). That means everyone can roll on the loot items whether their specific character in the group can use the item or not. Just because you may have an alt that can use the item does not give you special rolling privileges. After all, your alt is not in the active adventure group. Everyone in the group gets a chance to roll for the item.

  5. If another character in the adventure group wins an item in a FFA lotto that one of your alts can use, then talk to that character to see if you can work something out with them. However, it is totally up to the two of you to work something out ... or not. Just remember the fundamental axiom of our guild is to take care of one another which basically means you should never put your wants above the needs of any of your guild-mates.

  6. Once a character in the group wins a lotto for a loot item that they need they can no longer continue rolling for similar loot items using the I need argument. Unless they are willing to give up the original loot item they won to a group FFA roll. This must be stated prior to the character taking part in the lotto roll however.

These are not rules as much as they are guide-lines or the basis of loot etiquette. You should be taking care of your guild-mates like they are taking care of you. If you get a reputation in the guild as a loot hog then it inevitably affects the moral of the entire guild.
